The Films Are All Right: Daniela Taplin Lundberg, Young Il Kim & Alex Timbers Preside Over “The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt”

In a Variety profile piece on Daniela Taplin Lundberg (producer behind Great World of Sound, The Kids Are All Right and Beasts of No Nation) and announcement, we not only learned that she has launched the newly minted prod co. Stay Gold Features, but she hired scribe Young Il Kim to write and attached Mozart in the Jungle co-creater Alex Timbers to direct The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. Dan Crown and Riva Marker will also produce. Other projects in the pipeline for Lundberg: Harriet Tubman biopic, Choose Your Own Adventure and a drama based on the life of Jadin Bell.

Gist: Written by Young Il Kim and based on Edmund Morris biography, this traces Roosevelt’s life from his privileged upbringing to his trust-busting presidency.

Worth Noting: From Wiki: Alex Timbers’ Broadway directing credits include Rocky, Peter and the Starcatcher for which he was nominated for a 2012 Tony Award, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson which he also wrote the dialogue for and was nominated for a 2011 Tony Award, and The Pee-Wee Herman Show which was filmed for HBO and was nominated for a 2011 Emmy Award.

Do We Care?: While we likely won’t see the project anytime soon, with Kim penning Blacklist gold in Rodham (I’ve yet to read it, but it placed fourth on the 2012 list) we anticipate something a little off the beaten tracks.
