Polish filmmaker Jan P. Matuszyński is deep in production with Minghun. Screen Daily reports that Marcin Dorociński leads the cast. Originally set for an early 2022 shoot, the cast includes Natalia Bui and Antek Sztaba, Ewelina Starejki, Wiktoria Gorodeckaja, Fenfen Huang, Kwong Loke, Yuk Han and Daxing Zhang – he plays a pivotal supporting player here. The idea here for the film’s producers in Wonder Films’ Krzysztof Rak, Klaudiusz Frydrych and Inga Kruk is to be ready for a Venice showing – this is where Matuszyński showcased Leave No Traces in competition back in 2021. This is shot an English, Polish and Chinese language film.
Written by Grzegorz Łoszewski, this is the story of Jurek (Dorociński) whose life is turned upside down after his beloved daughter Marysia (Bui) dies in a car accident. Plunged into despair, he is persuaded by Marysia’s grandfather, the feisty Ben (Zhang) to perform an old Confucian ritual called minghun (marriage after death). Jurek and Ben embark on a journey to find Marysia the perfect dead husband.
